Rheumatology follow up

I had my first rheumatology apt in July, where bloods and x rays were taken, and then was referred for an MRI which I had last month. My follow up was made for Nov 1st, but has now been put back to 13th Dec. FIVE month wait. In the meantime I went to my GP yesterday as I suspect I now have psoriasis (toe nails, foot and groin) and that was one of the questions the rheumy asked me. The GP (who is rather drippy it has to be said) gave me a pot to put nail clippings in, said it might be psoriasis and if it is do I want treatment for it..well, yes actually, seeing as I have now lost 2 nails and my whole foot looks like it's rotting! I have to wait for the results from the clippings first. I asked her about the bloods/scans and she hasn't had any results sent to her.

Today I woke up in screaming agony with my lower back and hips. I honesty thought I wasn't going to make it out of bed to take my little girl to school on the first day back. Eventually I did, and usually the walk to school eases the pain but not today, I am still swearing like a trooper every time I move or my back spasms. I wanted to vacuum the whole house today but I'll be lucky to even manage to stick the kettle on! Can't believe I have to wait til almost Christmas to get any answers or treatment...cocos aren't touching it today.

Not a good day!

x

I would ring them back and say you are in agony and cant wait till December, I have done this once I rang my consultants secretary and explained everything and she got me an early appointment..you must get across how bad the pain is.
Its awful how people have to wait this long..I do hope you get some relief very soon and please let us know how you get on..((((())))xx

I agree with Barbara - this cannot wait for much longer, can it? I am very lucky in that I live a five-minute drive from the hospital so have been able to take advantage of others' cancellations, this may not be the case for you but I would advise that you ring the department and ask if you can be seen sooner. Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

I agree with Barbara and DD, there is no way you can wait that length of time, you will have to stress how bad you are, hopefully you will get it sorted soon some (((()))) to keep you gong ...................Marie xx

    Hi
I agree with the other about you ringing them to hopefully get you seen sooner
I also think a trip to your GP is in order to see if they can give you stronger painkillers and maybe a small dose of diazepam to relax any spasm in your back

    Hi everyone

On day 3 of this new level of pain; it's unbearable. It wakes me every time I move in bed, and waking up is horrendous. When I finally manage to sit on the edge of the bed, I physically can't lift my foot off the floor to put pj trousers on, they literally won't move. I have to lift my leg with my hands.

I called the hospital, but all you get is an answerphone stating that they do not give out test results over the phone unless specifically requested by GP (who has a 4 week waiting list for apts).

I'm going to have to call GP on Monday and get an emergency apt as I cannot cope with this, I honestly feel that I will be bed bound before long at this rate. I can't take NSAIDs, morphine makes me sick so maybe diazepam will help. Failing that I will be looking for a drug dealer to give me something to smoke!!!

Hi, I know how you feel, I was only diagnosed earlier this year but my best help was from the local hospital's Rheumatology Specialist Nurse, she got me early appointments when I was really bad.
    Hope this helps
