Gout and medication

Thanks to all for the replys to my post "gout and a friendly ear" I have started to take Colchinine and Allupurinol. I suppose that I have due to work commitments neglected to see the medics in the past.
I have been taking the medication for four days now and feel fine except I am absolutely shattered ! and I have a distant headache which today is more pronounced and driving me crazy. Anyone had these problems ? My own personal view is its the condition as Allupurinol can in the beginning cause a flare which the colchicine keeps in check (I believe) Its getting rediculous though as even a walk or doing stuff ive done a thousand times renders me to the bedroom for a sleep feeling rough ? To be honest I live a fairly good lifestyle , diet , exercise etc However this is beginning to get me down. Any advice apreciated. Regards Steve

Sorry I can't help Steve, but I hate to read and run. Hopefully someone with experience will pass by shortly. Hugs in the meantime, be kind to yourself. xToots x0

Well DONE you deciding to have treatmentI really hope that in time you will feel much better.
For now though I fear you may need to 'give in' a bit and rest when you can. Fatigue is a common problem for us lot and it is 'real' fatigue isn't it?
I take it you will be seeing someone to be monitored so you should let them know, (once your body has had time to adjust to the meds,) if you are still exhausted.
Love

Thanks all for the kind words. I guess im going to have to monitor with the medical people and start to look after myself a bit more. Also in my mind i keep thinking it will sort itself out, but looks like I will have to take the medication. Im sure some of you have it worse than I do, I never realised theres so many joint and muscle related problems that cause so much havoc. Now I know what the pain is like, hopefully I can do something to help , even if its just supporting the forum for now :-)Quote: look inside, trust what you find there0

One thing we all have in common on here is fatigue, it's part and parcel of life with any form of arthritis. It makes sense, doesn't it? Our bodies are fighting us, restricting us, sapping our energy. It takes time to learn how to pace oneself but when you do it will help matters. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I've never taken the meds you mention. I think most of us were reluctant at first to take daily medication but we've had to lose the battle in order to win the war. Adapt and survive, SteveIf at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
