Dear All,

Forgive me if this seems a silly question. I realise nobody is a Dr but any feedback would be helpful please.

I have been noticing recently that nearly every joint seems to click when i move them, knees, shoulder, neck, all over really.

Does this mean the arthritis is in every joint?

Thanks

Louisa

    Hi Louisa
I do tend to creak and crunch everywhere! You should hear my knees crunching when I go upstairs
Most of my joints are affected but I've never had an MRI scan to see how bad they are
    I just plod along

I think even normal people can get clicking in the joints the amount of non arthritics that say their knees creek to me is unreal . Arthritis is in all my joints but hey the treatments the same so what can you do.
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

    Hi Louisa;

I don't think clicking is necessarily a sign of arthritis. Tendons and ligaments slip and click doing their jobs.

I have had dreadful, clicking, noisy knees since I was 15 of so, and they are still ok at 47. That's a long time clicking and grinding :D

I wouldn't worry too much unless there is pain too.

This is entirely normal, it's part of ageing and nothing to do with arthritis. My knees began clicking in my early teens, the PsA didn't begin until I was 37. It is to do with tendons etc but also (I think I'm right in saying) it can also be nitrogen bubbles popping - that's what happens when people crack their knuckles. We may be concious of it but those around us don't hear it. As you have OA it may be time to start swallowing cod liver oil to help keep things 'greased', apparently that does help some people. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

There's no need to worry Louisa unless the clicking is accompanied by pain.

    Best Wishes :)

    Thank you everybody.

That has put my mind at rest a bit re clicking joints.

I am getting pain in my shoulder and hands now!

Fed up going to the Dr ( i am sure the feeling is mutual) but i suppose i need them reviewing too.

I would be truly lost without all the support on here, thanks again.
