alternatives- any experiences?

Sorry, me again.
But somehow I'm at a loss right now and I'm looking for something "different" that might help. I have ankylosing spondilitis (with the HLA-B27 thing)
Right now it is really bad and I simply can't work, which is rather threatening. The usual treatment is not advised because I have to take medication for another health problem that contradicts it and apparently it may be very risky as well. One of my customers mentioned anthroposophic medicine as a probable path. I know anthropology only in relation to their educational methods. In that department anthroposophy is rather convincing. I've asked this question already on another Forum and Guy from the helpline team suggested to repeat it on this Forum: Is there anybody around who may come up with some experiences of alternatives to our "little" problem?
I'm sorry if I have repeated myself here. But I'm a bit desperate.
Thank you very much for possible answers!

I think we all get desperate from time to time - my desperation (before I knew what was going on with me) resulted in spending money on supplements, then acupuncture and finally homeopathy. None of the practitioners I visited recognised my then trouble as a form of arthritis and, despite their ministrations, things steadily worsened. I am a world-weary cycnic now, but I admire your willingness do whatever you can to help yourself because you won't know until you try. Have you googled oil pulling? That's another natural remedy and as cheap as chips. DD

Oil pulling? Like petrol drilling? :) No, I never stumbled over that one. But I will have a look, of course. My problem is where I live: very off track and it is not easy to find the right doctors. If I could, I definitely would try Ayurveda. But I can't. You see- I don't have much choice as to look into something different. Or so it seems. But thank you for the oil pulling tip.

You have to swoosh a tablespoon of oil around your mouth for twenty minutes first thing. I think it's related to Ayurvedic principles. DD

Hi Caliban, I haven't anything to suggest I'm afraid, but have found your thread interesting :). Recently, one of the GP's in our Practice has left and is now practicing homeopathy. That quite surprised me as I've never heard any positive stories about it...but who knows? :)

That is not so surprising, I think. It depends on the country where you live. Personally I was suprised twice by what one can do with homeopathy. But I think it has it's limits. And the only homeopaths I know are "normal" doctors as well. I would not trust someone who has not studied the profession "properly". But why not looking into medicin of other cultures, for example? The chinese, indian or japanese have a totally different attitude, if it comes to healing. Why not profiting from different experiences ? Personally I've got the impression I'm offered a rather limited choice of possibilities. But that is due to my special problem with two totally different health problems, I guess.
