Lymphatic Drainage & Circulation

I started to seize up (knees/ elbows) a few years ago. I cut out all gluten and touch wood massive improvement. Then saw the lady on you tube [link deleted]
who uses one of those mattresses to stimulate her lymphatic and circulatory systems. The later stimulates the production of endorphins (our natural pain killers) and the former feeds the tissue between joints. This is according to my physiotherapist (swedish massage)

I have used one of these for about three months and it seems to be doing the trick. Does anyone know of chairs that might do the same?
Thanks
E

'Seizing up' is very different to the daily on-going grind of arthritis. Were you left unable to move? Could you move with difficulty and then things would ease? Were things worse in the evening or the morning? If you are afffected by arthritis do you know what type it is?

Many of us on here are aware that diet may have a beneficial effect for some but it is not the total answer for either type, regarding the relevance of lymph drainage and circulation, well, I am in the dark about that because it has not been mentioned to me by any practitioner (including my sports masseur). I am glad that you have found some benefit from the mattress and as regards the chair, well, there is a wonderful resource known as the internet, I reckon that is a natural port of call. DD

    Hi Dream daisy

I absolutely agree with you. I am an average 48 year old, but was / am terrified - as I have seen the effects of osteoarthritis on family members. The local GP just said first stages of arthritis which is what i suspected.
I feel stupid actually being on here as my symptoms were so mild compared to most of the rest of the community.

But equally I would prefer to see if I can prevent things from happening or at least slow deterioration down.

You know the standard answers from the UK medical sector..

During my own research I bumped into several articles which seemed to state that our bodies are like houses. Clean water (blood) IN Dirty water (lymph) OUT. If the dirty water (lymph) backs up disease including various types of arthritis will follow (allegedly).

I wondered if the converse might be possible. (Am i allowed to mention the daily mail cellulite article 25th May? that was impossible but seemed to work for her)

I also noticed stacks of USA videos talking about the miracle of Swedish massage on diminishing symptoms of arthritis (by stimulating lymph and systemic circulation).

Basically our lymphatic system can only be powered by exercise or motion. That's great if you cant exercise.
which is why I am interested in anything that stimulates the lymph whilst sitting at my desk or whilst asleep in bed.
The bed bit seems to be ticked off for now. I have lost about 6KG without changing any aspect of my life style and I assume that this (lymphatic drainage) was excess water that had backed up.
If the lymph bit works effectively then blood should reach the tissue between joints.

My concern (like about 20million other people) is day time - chairs and offices.

So if any design types are out there please design an interactive chair or seat that stimulates lymphatic drainage and circulation just by sitting on it. Our scientists have created some great things for sitting down (TV / computers/ football stadiums (eh) but they must wake up to what this might be doing to our health.

Any form of arthritis is progressive and degenerative, it will do both of those things at the rate it chooses, we cannnot halt it no matter what preventative measures we take. There is still mystery about the causes (not in my case though, I know exactly where mine has come from, I'm a genetic disaster zone) hence these theories you have been reading about. For some the drugs can be effective for a period of time but they may not suit everyone. I am seventeen years in, I began aged 37 with one sort then gained the other, but I have learned to be adaptable and to keep adapting, this is my trouble and no-one else's.

You are fortunate in that your symptoms are so far pretty mild and I hope it stays that way for a very long time. Exercise doesn't mean punishing gym sessions, massive workouts etc, just walk daily (walking is one of the best ways to exercise) use the stairs rather than the lift, even just getting up and walking round the office will be beneficial. Swimming is another good thing as it's non-weight bearing and works the whole body, and cycling too. Well done on losing the weight - I once lost three stones and pain levels rose - typical Daisy luck! I wish you well and I hope you stay as well as possible. DD

    Hi Babs & Dream Daisy

I am new to this and want to share some links to CNN video about swedish massage which seems to have good benefits to some US citizens and June Hackett who is from Cornwall and seems in pretty good shape considering that she has Oedema, Diabetes and three types of arthritis.

Can I or will these links be zapped?

Both of course could benefit outside business people. CNN and the people that made Junes mattress? But both are relevant and would allow comments from others as to whether I a barking up the wrong tree?

    Any tips?

    gande

    Kind regards
