Hope you can now have a relaxing evening.

    Hi Beryl and Maria
Yes........Peter is brilliant. In fact I have never done a Christmas Dinner since we were married......didn't even have arthritis then  He just likes cooking.
This is the 2nd THR so he knows how it goes

You're right Maria.....I'll have time to get myself organised for Christmas.
5 years ago I was knocked down by a car that reversed over my ankle then drove over it and that was in late Nov......no time to do anything for Christmas that I hadn't done  In hospital until just before Christmas

    Woo hoo! Well done, you.

I had a THR over Christmas once. I also had a knee revision just before. I came out 23rd Dec. Go for it, Hileena, and I hope it makes a big differenxe.

I didn't exactly choose either, Hilena, but, on both occasions, I was in a hell of a lot of pain so, when they offered, I accepted like a shot.

    Hi Mig, SW and Debbie

I don't know if upbeat is the word  Still shocked but as it's getting sorer I'm glad its getting done sooner rather than later

SW, I wasn't in a lot of pain {except that stupid back} beforehand but suddenly it got really sore and like you....when it was suggested {after a couple of x rays} I thought better get it done....might even help {not cure} the back if I walk better.

Debbie....yes I'll have to get my Christmas head on soon. I'll also have to try and remember all the changes I made to the house....where things were etc. After almost 4 years....I've almost forgotten

    HI
I am glad that you have got a plan and can start to get things ready before your op date. It is a good feeling knowing when your date is, but also a nervy one!! You will be fine xx
The good thing about the timing of this op is that you have the perfect reason to be waited on hand and foot (literally with the lovely TEDs!! )
    Take care xx

    Hi Eileen :)

Well I am very pleased for you that you have a plan in place and it's feasible to do too :) Much better than unexpected nasty surprises like being run over

The best ever surprise I had was the eldest being born two and a half months early :) I hadn't fetched her cot home yet

Peter will get 'the message' over time when you persist with organising Christmas early  me eh? Mine is exactly the same.

Take care and you can count me in for any duties required

    Love

    Thanks Toni
    I'm still a bit shocked....not sure....all at 6's and 7's
Trying to remember all the things to do to organise the house.
When I had the first one done I wasn't as sore and could do housework and sorting a lot quick
    Thanks for offer of duties

Crikey. Crikey Moses! That is soon but surely it will get it done and dusted. Forget Christmas for this year, sometimes we cannot do it all and can't expect others to 'pick up the slack' (especially if those others are blokes  ).

Concentrate on getting as fit as possible before the op so that the recovery will be easier, the TEDs phase will soon pass, we will all be here for you, with you and behind you, methinks it's about time that things start getting better for you, no? DD

Hi Eileen, I'm sorry I'm way behind with whats been going on here. I think the last I knew was whether the pain was your back or hip so now by the news I gather its been decided its the hip.
You've been there and done it all before but this time you have time to get organised so don't panic you have Peter there who knows the ropes.
I too need my right hip replacing but nothing can be arranged easily. I have a meeting on Thursday to see what can be achieved if anything.
    Take care Love May xx

Hi Toni, DD, May and Destiny
    Thanks for your words.
DD Believe it or not I've never done a Christmas Dinner in all the years we've been married  Peter loves cooking....so that's one thing out of the way....its just presents and things....also organising the house again. Things within reach, things tidied so that Peter can find them etc
    May....How are you?
They haven't really decided it is the hip  I think the last when we were chatting was the ortho that did the first THR decided it was referred pain from Back to hip
He eventually sent me to another consultant {Back}who after a while decided it was referred pain from my hip to my back
He then sent me to a pain clinic who agreed I had a "rubbish back" what with the arthritis and scoliosis but they couldn't do anything about that...couldn't operate on my spine...  Thank goodness for that...don't want a op on my spine so he got back in touch with the first ortho.....had an appointment with him on Friday and he informed me I needed it doing NOW and there was a 50/50 chance it would help my back as well...I asked When???? 13th December!!!!!!!! HELP
Anyway how are you and John coping.....I can understand how hard it must be to get a THR....what about the big C???
We must chat one of these days...I think that's it up to date anyway

    Love
    Hileena
