    Helen

I thought that was the norm but obviously not to get a one year review...My dad got called back for 4 years, every year but he is now 81 so maybe cos of his age?
I have feeling all over its come back I'd say 90%....

Helen, I think the numbness is normal and everyone does get it, they just neglect to tell you about it before hand and the size of the numb patch varies from person to person. I think the surgery traumatises the nerves as well as the muscles. In one knee about 3 months after the op I suddenly got little "electric shocks" that went on intermittently for a couple of days, and the numbness has pretty much gone (I say pretty much because I don't notice it normally, just occasionally if I bang the side of my knee on a table leg or something, it feels a little odd). The other knee though, still has a fairly large numb patch (11 months later) and never got any electric shocks in it, so I guess that's going to be permanent.

As for the one year review, I'm having mine next week (2 months late for one knee and a month early for t'other), my surgery was private, but I'm sure the NHS around here does a one year review too, unless you've said to them you don't think you need to be seen.

    Chook

Its weird when you bang a false knee now isn't it? I mean you know youv'e knocked it but its like a dull knock? I'm getting the little electric shocks too, quite often when I'm in bed trying yo get comfy! I finally take back my crutches too as held onto them for a bit longer and just forgot to take them another time so bye bye crutches!

Yes, I get those electric shock type feelings too...in fact I've had all sorts of weird sensations. I tend to pretty much ignore them, but it'll by nice if/when they go away.

I now feel neglected at not getting a one year review! Well, not really, if they asked me to have one I'd probably complain it was a waste of time actually. Still, it does seem strange that we don't all get it.

Well, maybe you're right; I don't really feel like I do need reviewing. Mind you, if I had a review I'd ask questions like, is it OK to be almost able to sit back on my heels, or is that a no-no? As it is I just play it by ear and try to listen to my body - and remember I got told that everything was OK except high impact sports.

Ah, yes, shaving... I use an epilator, and I have to be really careful around the numb or tingly parts and it feels a bit strange. I'm about to do them again before I go on holiday in early November - only time I bother really - so I'll see if it's any better than last time. I figure it's only the skin so it can't hurt too much, but if yours react badly you'd better be careful.

Anyway, sounds like you're basically doing fine. Do you know how Marrianne and the other new knees of 2012 are getting on? There were a whole crew of us around the same time; it would be good to know. Of course we never had our proposed meet-up, and I didn't really think we would, but it would be nice to hear from them....

    Hi Helen

Well I think you have the sensisble approach by listening to your body, its the best instructor really. Re shaving my skin is extra sensitive and has been fine up until now, think the new razor is a bit sharper than usual that's why its flaring up..
Marianne was on here think she has a review too soon...A meet would be good but of course with everyone scattered its hard to organise, maybe?
