Hi guys,

Has anyone had a Caudal epidural steroid injection? If so were you sedated?

Don't they give a local anaesthetic for epidurals? I had a lumbar puncture many years ago and that was done under a local.

    Hi Salamader,

this isn't an ordinary epidural a syringe is put into the tail of your spine after a local but it's very painful. I've read about it on-line and most sites recommend sedation which I wasn't offered.

    Ouch!!

That sounds nasty Trish. If you've got time b4 it's being done, like days or weeks etc it may well be worth ringing the Consultants Secretary. They can take messages & either they'll call you back or ure actual consultant might!! I think its a very valid question & it'll hopefully help you to prepare in a more stress free way.

    Good luck huni.

Sorry, can't help. I've had an epidural and my son had a lumber puncture when little but I, too, think your best bet is either to ring up or just hope for the best
