    Hi Trish;

    I don't have diabetic neuropathy, but have one associated with rheumatic disease. I believe if the damage is done, then the treatments are geared to controlling symptoms with drugs like Gabapentin, Pregabalin and Tricyclic Antidepressants. Otherwise, the treatments are geared toward preventing further damage by controlling the underlying disease, and from your other post, it sounds like you have your diabetes under good control.

    Hopefully your doctor can come up with something that works well for you.

    Hope you are not too painful. It can be a very nasty, painful problem. Best wishes.

    Hi Debbie,

    so glad to see that you are posting again, I've been thinking about you. Are you feeling a bit better kid? I've looked at that website, it doesn't give much information. I don't want to go surfing the net as I always find things that I would rather not know, being one of life's worriers :lol:

    Nany thanks,

    I don't have diabetic neuropathy but have a very rare ganglionopathy which they think is caused by Sjogrens(still getting tested). As boomer said they will keep the diabetis under control and usually the first meds they will try is amytriptiline, gabapentin, pregabalin hope you will get sorted soon Trish and get some relief...............Marie x

    The only thing that puzzles me is that DN is supposed to start from the toes and work its way up the legs which is different to spinal issues. So it is good that you are having another scan and consultation.

    Take care

    Hi Suzygirl,

    I've read that but the consultant was very thorough, he examined me carefully, tested my feet and legs for reaction to cold and a sharp instrument. He said that I wouldn't be walking for an hour like I can if it was originating from the spine and all this before he looked at last time's MRI Scan.

    I hope it's right makes a lot of sense to me.

    That does make sense, I suppose I am wary because of what happened to me. He sounds as though he really knows his stuff, so you are obviously in good hands. I am sorry that you are looking at a diagnosis of DN though.
