First infusion done

Hi Folks,
Well I had my first infusion of Tocilizumab yesterday. All went as well as can be expected (Although I'm a bit bruised from the canula but hey that's to be expected). The thing is I'm absolutely shattered after it. Can any of you tell me whether or not this is to be expected. I am fighting to keep my eyes open here which is a bit disconcerting when I'm driving!!!!!!
Also my ALT level had raised from 9 to 83 in 2 weeks - because of this I've got to have weekly bloods until my next infusion next month. Now seeing as I hadn't been drinking any alcohol (believe it or not!) the only other thing it could be is the methotrexate I have to take in conjunction with the infusions - has anyone else had this happen?
Thanks

Hi Kate
Glad to hear you got through the 1st infusion.
I had my first one 6 weeks ago but had to miss my second one due to some side effects. Just waiting to hear what will happen next.
I take MTX along with it as I have done these past 12 or 13 yrs now.
Keep us informed how it goes wont you, hope it works well for you.

Hi Kate,
Good for you getting the first one out the way, sorry I can offer any advice apart from I have heard others say they are so tired after it.
I hope you get lots of relief..and please let us know how it goes..xxLove

hi Kate ,
your ALT could be caused by mtx , had high reading for alt for several years until they increased my folic acid to 5mg six days a week & now back to normal ,0
