Forum Announcements and Sticky Threads

Right, I've thought about this and concluded, somewhat unsurprisingly, that there are far too many indecipherable icons. What is needed is fewer and clearer.

As a start, to ensure that people do actually check announcements and stickies (and here I'm going to reveal my appalling lack of techieness :oops: ) would it be possible for new ones either to have a flashing icon until first clicked on, thus ensuring we would check them out from sheer annoyance if nothing else , or for the thread itself to be in a totally different colour from any others until clicked on?
