Sorry to hear this Mike, that is all you need on top of everything else. The steroid I am on apparently may be connected to diabetes, I have been on them for nine months now, I get my bloods done every three weeks and nothing has shown up yet. I am sorry I could not have been of more help, I wish you well................Marie xSmile a while and while you smile
smile another smile and soon there
will be miles and miles of smiles
just because you smiled I wish your
day is full of Smiles0 -
I, too, am very sorry to hear this, Mike. I know there is such a thing as steroid-induced diabetes but who knows whether or not steroids have been the cause of yours. Type 2 diabetes is on the increase generally. People over 40, overweight or with a close relative who has diabetes are more at risk.
I think you need to talk it over with your GP as to possible causes. I don't know what the situation is for those with steroid-induced diabetes but I do know a couple of people with standard type 2 who manage to control theirs by diet alone.
Maybe you'll get more answers if you post on Living With Arthritis. I think, given the nature of steroid-induced diabetes, it would not be inappropriate there and more people might see it.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Mike, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes whilst on pred. Pred stopped over 2 years ago and I am still diabetic despite losing weight and cutting carbs. I take tablets and am well controlled as I watch what I eat but it hasn't gone unfortunately.0

A walk after a meal can help to bring sugar levels down. It is difficult with arthritis and a nuisance we have yet another thing to cope with, especially when it isn't our fault we were given pred !
I wish you well Mike, anything you can manage is bound to help.0
