Due to the nature of Mr DD's employment he will have to have his phone on all night in case of emergency calls concerning the very high tides and flooding (for which the East Anglian coast is being braced). He was supposed to have tomorrow off but may have to go into work. Bother.

If anyone has been affected today by the rather extreme conditions I send you my best wishes and I hope that things are not too bad. We have had some branches come down (not big ones though) but the tidal surge may be a different beast altogether. DD

I wish you both a peaceful, uninterrupted night's sleep.

The night passed without incident thanks to his organisation getting ahead of the game. The flood defences held up well but there is extensive flooding around the flattest areas of the coast in my neck of the woods. I hope any members who have been affected are OK and that the clearing up is not too trying. DD

Glad to hear the good news DD.My daughter ran a B&B on Yarmouth seafront a few years ago when there was another springtide/stormsurge combo and came within about 4" of having a basement full of water. She will be glad not to have that worry now!
