I know, we all are :( but mine has hit new levels of ouchiness thanks to returning today to the old abode. I had to go to sort some stuff out and to let in a chap to do some kind of electrical check for our prospective cash buyer (must keep them happy ) but it entailed (alas) a trip up both flights of stairs and, of course, the return journey.

I am utterly staggered by the fact that I lived there for so long. I guess I became used to the continual up-and-down and 'coped' by not doing very much. Here at No. 10 I am achieving far more on a daily basis simply because I do not have to do stairs (plus I also have the spur of wanting to sort out the house).

Right, I must go and start cooking (and stop feeling sorry for myself). DD

Sorry you're in more pain. As Marie said, maybe a day of rest tomorrow. You've got plenty of time for sorting out the house. (((hugs)))

Thank you my lovelies, your replies were just what was needed and I appreciate them. Yup, the coco reserves are being brought into play which is why things are a little more tolerable. I will go soon to my unquiet bed (the tinnitus is absurd at the moment) but I hope to quell that with reading my Kindle silently out loud (if you get my drift  ). DD

Hope you're feeling more rested and less stressed today , aren't kindles amazing for helping to block out the world , I do that too ! There is a good side to your extra pain , ( honestly ) , the relief of knowing that you no longer need to cope with 2 flights of stairs on a daily basis ! Rest up and enjoy your comfortable , manageable home .

Thank you again everyone, you are all very kind to me. I am still feeling the after-effects of yesterday and today has been complicated by Mr DD taking the day off and, for once, not working in his office upstairs. Instead he is unpacking boxes and getting tired. :( I wanted to be cleaning the house because we have some friends coming round tonight but I now have to wait until he has finished what he wants to get done. Most irksome. And he has the Pet Shop boys on - also irksome.

I've had my hair cut. I discovered that I have a balding patch on the back of my head (thanks meth!) and its generally thinning all over. Hey-ho. DD

    Hi DD
    Things will get better
Look at the positives......how many years did you do that??? and no longer will you have to do it
That's the positive side of it.......I am sorry you are sore {er} but that's the best way to look at it.

Hello celebration, thank you for replying, it was lovely to hear from you.

Tonsure. Crikey, that's a word we don't see too often anywhere so thank you Sticky for using the apposite word. I like words because they are useful things.

Ah Hileena, what a wise woman you are. I was chatting to a friend earlier today and I said that sometimes we don't realise just how unreasonable things have become until our circumstances change. The stairs have gone and I am also sleeping so much better since I began to live life on the flat. I advocate just getting on with things but sometimes that attitude can work against me - this is a case in point.

So, today. More boxes unpacked, more treasures unearthed (including my stash of 200 Ikea tealights, most useful as twenty one are currently flickering around the house; I like candles :) ) he has been to footy and is now cheffing. I can soon coco again (things are not too good) but no matter because things will improve. They usually do. DD

It's good to get things unpacked again, isn't it? Just don't go overdoing it. 21 candles all at once? How lovely. I usually only have 3 or 4 but I'd love them all round the room. I must try it some day. Hope the cocos help DD.

Hope things are beginning to settle again DD. When things get all too grim for me I make tea and return to bed to read my kindle-happily because we have a downstairs bedroom I don't have to tackle the stairs other than to head to the shower/bath- we gave the top storey of the house to our twins when they were teenagers, and never reclaimed it when they left home-I like downstairs living!! :D

Hi am Janet , celebration is part of my business name. You look after yourself, try and be positive, I hope you feel better soon.
I have been busy with work and Xmas, my hubby brought me hudl for Xmas so its easier now, l was very very down which affected my health not eating, fainting, losing weight ,etc before Xmas but now feeling better. My daughter made me a small positive banner to look at all the time it helps.
    It says
From time to time, your arthritis will get on top of you - anger, frustration, fear but that is normal.
A strong person is not the one who doesn't cry. A strong person is the one who cries and shed tears for a moment, then gets up and fights again.
    Wanted to share it
And a photo of my Dad saying he would be proud. I cried as my dad not with us.
    And arthritis ninja too
    Hope this helps too

I'm really sorry to read this DD. I'd stay clear of ure old home now, if that's possible!! It seems ure fears of moving house & therefore on, were more emotional than anything as, apart from this bump in the road, you seem to have gained a much better quality of life. I'm so glad of that for you!!

I hope things settle back down for you soon.

Its my own fault....Arthritis Care Branch New Year do yesterday and I did a bit too much dancing {the word dancing is used very loosely} Jiggling might be a better description
Trying to take the advice I gave you.....not so easy
    Take care pet

Morning all, life is grim yet again. We were 'introduced' to the neighbours yesterday, which entailed three hours of sitting, standing, repeating oneself, realising that unless I get a gardener sorted ASAP we will be both ostracised and black-balled on the social-front and watching 'im indoors flirt with all the elderly ladies (which is always great fun!)

Today has begun with severe backache. :( I have to humira and then I will voltarol. The fun never ends. I hope that you are all doing somewhat better than me. DD

PS Hileena? You were jiggling? :) I blame the sweet sherries.

    Hi DD
That does sound pretty awful......sitting standing repeating oneself. At the end what was your opinion of them?
As for jiggling.....that's what passes for dancing these days

They were all very pleasant people. It appears to be a friendly-bordering-on-close-knit community, there is a gardening club (they open their gardens to visitors in early May to raise money for charity), a bridge club, a reading club, they all appear to sit on committees of various kinds or are involved in un-specified good works. We are not the youngest couple in the road but I reckon we will fit in. I will see more of the neighbours than my husband so I will do my best not to fall out with any of them! DD

DD, I can remember being ostracised once for not having the appropriate colour garage door! Close knit communities can be both a blessing and a curse! Sorry you're having it rough again.x
