Anyone had Hip Resurfacing Op

Hi
I am 47 and considering a hip resurfacing operation as the restriction of movement in the legs is now becoming a problem. Sitting cross legged (both ways), getting into the car and getting up off the floor are now difficult. Sitting or standing for too long is also a problem along with having sex and even just turning over in bed. I feel like a 70 year old.

Has anyone had a hip resurfacing op? If so, what did they use, ie ceramic, metal or plastic? Did they use cement or screws? Did you find you had immediate relief from stiffness and much more movement after recovery? Who did you use?

Any advice would be much appreciated as I am an active person who loves cycling and yoga and feel I will be able to enjoy these so much more if I get the proper use of my legs/hips back.

Thanks so much
Corrina

Hi Corrina, and welcome to the forum. :D
I can't help with information, as I have no experience of this procedure, but I just wanted to bump this up, as I'm sure there will be someone here who can help you.
    Take care Numpty

I fully understand the frustrations of not being able to move around in the way one has been used to. I can't think of anyone on here recently who has had a resurface - try putting the term into the search function on this board and see what crops up. DD

    Hello Corrina
I had an hip replacement around 6 months ago now, and was talking to a young lady who was having an hip resurfaced....from what I remember they were replacing the cup with a metal one and resurfacing the head of the femur..so that it was smooth think they use a sought of ceramic fillers ...so I know it can only be done on people that don't have a lot of bone loss..the lady had done her homework has to where she would have it done ..not sure how you do your homework :!: .not sure were you live but the hospital I went in is in the North West .
I do wish you well with it and please let us know how you get on.
    Love
    Barbara
