Hm I can't remember exactly which meds you take, Mike, but I'm pretty sure DMARDS and / or anti-tnfs figure in there somewhere. I think you should ring your rheumatology helpline to be on the safe side.

This doesn't sound good Mike, so please, as Sticky has advised, ring your rheumatology department tomorrow. It may be meds-related ( I know I should remember what you are taking but I'm afraid I don't. ) but I don't think this is one for a GP. They know a little about a lot, you may need someone who knows a lot about a little. DD

    Oooh er, Mike

Well, I guess it's a bit of a puzzle but you did the right thing and, if your rheumatologist is happy, so am I.

    Let battle commence :D

I hadn't realised you were diabetic, Mike. What a lot you have to put up with! I think you're absolutely right in seeing the diabetes nurse and ensuring you get to the bottom of it. Please keep us informed.

I wondered about phlebitis but didn't want to say owt in case I was wrong. Please keep a very careful eye on this, hopefully the cause has been discovered, I hope the gel helps but if not back to the docs you go, OK? DD

She's right, you know, Mike. My Mum got phlebitis once or twice. Don't take any chances with it. If the gel's not working do go back to the GP.

To be honest, Mike, what I really remember is her being in a lot of pain if she knocked her leg against anything. She had no scans and it did go eventually but not soon enough for her liking

I think there are different causes and some types require antibiotics.

My Mum didn't have diabetes which, I guess, is one potential complication less.

How are things today for you?
