Hi everyone.
2 weeks ago i was started on 15mg of this steroid. The rheumatologist wrote to my gp saying if i had significant relief to drop the dose to 2.5mg which she did yesterday.
I just looked at the box and it says take 2.5mg FIVE times a day. How is this lowering my dose?! Its practically still 15mg. Im confused.

Hi;
That does sound confusing. I would call them and confirm the dose and instructions, it may be a simple error.
I've always been told to take it as a single dose in the morning to mimic your body's natural cortisol cycle.0 -
talk to your GP & maybe ask to see copy of letter they sent to your GP
15mg is quite high to stay on , normal its between 5mg & 10mg , taking it 5 times a day is totaly wrong so you need to check that anyway0 -
That does sound strange, but to drop from 15mg straight down to 2.5 would, I think, be a bit drastic too! Could it be you should be dropping to 12.5 for a while, then reducing further. I've always been told to taper off gradually after being on a higher dose.
I think you should contact your GP for clarification.
