Would inflamation of the sacroiliac joints show up on Xray? On my report it states SI joints are within normal limits. Would this exclude a possibility of ankylosing spondylitis?

Hi bridesmum; While I am not a medical professional, my understanding is that you can have early AS-related inflammation of the SI joints which is discernable only on MRI. So no, doesn't rule it out.
I have PsA and spondylitis but no ankylosis yet.0 -

Hello
When I last went to my pain clinic they said MRIs dont always show up inflammation in the sacroiliac joint..sometime the only way of seeing if the joint is painful is to put steroid in it..I cant lie flat at the min because of my hips , so cant have it at the mo..you ask about it.
I do feel for you the pain is awful and nothing seems to touch it, the joint can also cause a lot of pain if it is thrown out by your walking..ie limping..Love
