Hi
I am looking at getting holiday insurance for our family holiday. The rest of my family are automatically covered through a bank account deal but it doesn`t cover me because of my THR`s /pre existing medical issues. Can anyone advise the best and most competitive companies to use?
Thanks

Poor you! I hate the annual travel insurance trek through the interweb and I reckon you have to do it annually as prices change so much it's folly to just return to your last one. If you go to a price comparison site they all ask the same questions then quote you wildly differing prices. And the ones that claim to specialise in pre-existing conditions aren't necessarily the best. This year we went with Holiday Extra but do get several quotes even though it seems to waste an entire day.
A little tip - more than two meds per disease/illness puts the price up. As some of my stomach/oesophageal/hiatus hernia ones overlap, I try (as far as truthfully possible) to allot no more than two to each condition. No point in cover-ups though as that'd turn any health problems while away into veritable nightmares. Good luck!If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Sticky
Thanks for your reply. I had done 2 quotes prior to posting here, and as you said the quotes varied a lot!! I will probably just do one more on a comparison website and choose the best there. It takes ages to do all the little drop down boxes........But will be worth it for a bit of sun 8)

Hi,
I don't envy you trying to get decent cover. i am on a lot of meds plus type 1 diabetes and my insurance to fly to California a couple of years ago was as as much as the airfare! and of course I was absolutely fine the whole three weeks! Also before the RA. Dread to think what they would charge me now.
Do make sure you don't leave anything out 'cos that's where people get declined.
Good luck,
