My beloved claims there is no difference between putting the blanket on top of the bedspread (as he just did) and putting the bedspread on top of the blanket as (I claim) any normal person would. Your thoughts please but do not mention the 'd' word. We cannot share one. End of.

Simple: the bedspread over top helps keep the trapped, insulating air between the blanket fibers in, thus increasing the warmth :)

Also if the one doing the laundering were to argue this, it is the easier as it is far simpler the wash the bedspread rather than the blanket and, without all that washing, it will last longer.

A bedspread is used to dress a bed in a decorative manner, therefore it should be on top, end of

Use separate beds and visit each when romantically inclined.
    Bonus? Fewer altercations.

Of course the bedspread goes on top - it hides the fact that the bed may not be that well-made. DD

I'm for the separate beds option. I have enough problems sleeping without having to cope with my hubby's snoring and gone are the days when I could just go downstairs and sleep on the sofa. He is impossible to wake so seperate beds it is.

But bedspreads go on top, or in my case patchwork quilts

Thank you one and all. I think we've nailed that one. For various reasons, there is the male way of doing it and then there is the correct way.

ichabod - 'romantically inclined'? Nope you've lost me  I thought we had established that I have been married for 46 years to a Lancastrian

Slosh - Oh no! I still relish the cuddles, despite the snoring :D
