Ye gods. He has died, aged 56, which has both shocked and stunned me. He was the same age as my belovéd and, although I never found him that amusing, he was part of the soundtrack to a goodly portion of my younger life. Crikey. :shock: DD

A relatively big part of my life, too, as No 2 son loved The Young Ones. I thought Alan B'Stard MP was his best creation but then I'm a sucker for political satire.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I loved him too. The New Statesman was excellent, and Bottom, and more recently he brought his special madness to Man Down.
