Was the first replacement so ghastly an experience? I'm afraid I cannot remember how it went for you but consider the benefit you have now. I have two knees that need doing but I honestly don't know if I'll bother because the ankles and hips have gone whilst I've had to wait. Why would you stop the biologics? OK, maybe just before surgery and just after but I don't think there's anything to stop you taking them once you are healing. Those of us with two kinds of arthritis lead complicated lives, yes? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I can see the dilemma. It's basically a question of do you sort out the knee and abandon everything else for a while or go for the biologics and forget about the knee. I don't know what the situation is with whatever you're on, marrianne. Is it OK to stop it then start again post-surgery? I never had a problem with meth but, with penicillamine, I was told it tends not to work as well second time around. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks Sticky DD and Barbara.Oh I think its this arthritis it stops us from living a normal life,we should be looking with interest and why not possibilitys at things like the London marathon .. cancer runs .. the Pudsy stuff and now the Tour /France Yorkshire GRRR WANT TO DO STUFF but we cant we ache we are tired and we try every day to be normal ,oh I hate it so much but ......ok we carry on dont we DD wish you could get your knees done now because it really is very liberating ,I have osteo to so we dont know where the damage is going to hit next but if you could get your knees done it would take the pressure of your ankles ,Sticky your have done really well with meth ,you are braver stronger and not the weak sickly type it gave me alsorts of extra problems spent hours on the toilet chucking up and the other 6 weeks of it so did give it my best shot Barbara I know exactly what you mean about your hip and you worry like me its a good operation BUT it does take a fair few weeks out of normal life sorry about the back ache to its going to be like me a difficult choice to go for another op oh guys good advice stay strong ....Marriannexx0

Normal? What's normal I gave up on normal aged 15. Seriously, I don't think it's helpful to be looking over one's shoulder at what our contemporaries can or can't do. There are no shoulds and shouldn'ts only cans and can'ts. In my grandmother's generation we'd have been left with all our rubbishy jonts and given laudanum for the pain. In fact, in some parts of the world, arthritic life is proably still much like that.
I agree. DD should get her knees done. Shall we spearhead a campaign
I'm not brave or strong, marrianne. I just got lucky with the meth. Luck plays a big part and I've had more than my fair share of it.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
