We took my nephew Charlie to Bridlington for the day yesterday. It was his birthday last Thursday so instead of buying him some kind of toy that would break within a day or two we treated him to a great day out.
I have good friends there that own a little funfair on the seafront so he spent about four hours going on every ride add many times as he wanted. He said it was the best birthday present ever :D:D put a huge smile on my face. .
I overdid things by a very long margin and am really really sufferingnow but it was all self inflicted so my fault. I even went on some of the rides with him.
The weather was great. And from brid we headed up to Scarborough and went on the beach. He was straight in the sea (after changing into his swim shorts of course lol) with not a care in the world. Me and Janet had such a lovely time with him.
Janet then took him to Peashome Park just around the corner from the north beach. I had to head for the car as by that time I could hardly walk. .
I am uploading some photos to Photobucket at the minute and will post some soon.

We are also taking him and his older brother Ben to St Helens next Friday. We have booked a hotel (Thanks to Janet for her ace tinterweb skills for finding another bargain) and will be taking them both to Knowsley Safari park on Saturday.
We have told them about taking them away for the weekend but they don't know about the safari park. . Lol
their parents (my kid brother and wife) don't have much and have never taken them to a hotel. I think they're very excited just for that lol.
My mum is coming too and I think Charlie will end up in the room with mum and Ben with us. Got two family rooms booked. Can't remember the price but it was a bargain. Just a Prem$ere Inn but I think they are excellent hotels. There are tons of bargains to be had at these places when you book early and do some research.

:D

I'm glad you had a good time, Tony. I hope St Helens :? will be equally good.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Thanks mi dear. .
I am really glad that at Knowsley they have a 'safe route' past the monkeys lol.
You can, if you wish, have your car destroyed by them but you don't have to go that way lol. You drive around the outside of the enclosure instead and watch the other people having their cars demolished :lol:

That's brought back some memories, Tony. We used to take our sons to Scarborough and they loved the naval display at Peasholm Park. Do they still do that? Have a good time at St Helens.

Thanks Meg... the park is lovely eh?
I didn't go into the park yesterday as I was in too much pain by then and went to the car.
on the right hand side of the park on the hill you can park on the double yellow lines half way up. As long as you have your blue badge and clock on display.
as I was parked up I noticed an older couple returning to their car below mine. I had noticed that they had a parking ticket on there windscreen... I could see they were a tad bemused by this and the lady started to walk up to where I was parked.. I asked her if they had their badge on display and they had... then I noticed that where they were parked the kerb had stripes on.. I had to explain to her that this was why they had been ticketed. She didn't even understand that was how it worked. I also told her not to think about challenging it as the parking attendants sometimes take photos now..
I think anyone with a blue badge should get to grips with the rules etc before using them... for example, you can park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3hrs as long as there are no stripes on the kerb.. if there are then no parking is allowed.
Costly mistake for them that could have been avoided had they known the rules. They had just seen some cars parked above where they parked and not checked the curb. They had parked by the last stripes on the kerb..

You sound like the magic fairies of Aunty and Uncles! I'm so glad that your nephew (and you both) had so much fun and I really hope today isn't too painful and that memories of those little smiles see you through. The safari park will be a blast and I bet they get super excited when they find out about their surprise. What a superstar you are xx

    AND....BREATHE

We are looking forward to the weekend. We have been before with Janet's sisters and kids.. great place.

I must admit LV, I misread your reply at first and thought you were calling me a fairie  :o

I did wonder about using the word fairy but then I couldn't think of a male fairy...I think I will shut my mouth now because I'm not helping the cause.

That sounds like a magical day out you gave him, what a birthday treat. Mine's next March . . . . . .

I agree about the cheaper hotel chains, when I went to see my Ma I used to stay at an Ibis, absolutely basic but very clean, with comfortable beds and very clever built-in showers. Take it easy on your next jaunt, OK? There is nothing to be gained in losing days to payback. DD

Next weekends trip will be easier. I only have to drive there. Rest. Drive around the lion infested place. Rest. Drive home. Rest.
    Lol
I will help as much as I can with the kids but they are really well behaved for us and mum so hopefully they won't give mum and Janet too much trouble. :D

x March you say? The funfair opens in February so I'll take you in the waltzers :lol:
