Hi.
I've just taken my first Alendronic Acid tablet for my osteoporosis. I have to sit up for half an hour after taking it. This hurts
Can't win lol. .

I find sitting up can be painful but if it helps eh?

Hope everyone is as ok as can be :D

No experience of taking this med but can sympathise that sitting up can be painful and it's s*d's law that it's always going to be most painful when you have to do it. All I can say is that I hope it does the job and that you can enjoy a reviving lie down later. With this and your injection later I get the feeling Thursday is not going to be your favourite day of the week.

Prop yourself up as best you can with pillows, switch on a film and lose yourself in that. I used to do crosswords which I suspect is not your thing. DD

Our daughter ( smurfette ) takes this for osteoporosis and as she has a serious lung disease ; also connected with her RA , she also finds the sitting upright painful . She props herself up with pillows and reads her kindle to pass the time .

    'morning Tony

I appreciate that you must not lie down after taking AA for a certain amount of time but as far as I know there is no law against you standing up and walking around if you wish. ;) It is lying down that is "verboten". You just have to keep upright for a time - 30 mins or so. That is what I was told and read about AA.

    Hi Tony
I know I stopped it last week and am waiting to see my GP but I took my computer upstairs, put it on a desk, got up took the dreaded AA with a glass of water and sat and played on the computer for 30 minutes.
Then gratefully took some pain killers/dullers to hopefully help the pain of everything else LOL
    Love

    Thanks hun. .
I went back to sleep after sitting for about 35 mins in all. I was just trawling through AC on my phone to kill the time. It worked

I take this, albeit once a week, but my instructions were to take it 45 mins before food, and not lie down for half an hour. My consultant suggested taking it as soon as I get out of bed, then, by the time I've showered and dressed etc, the time will have passed, and I can have brekkie and more pills! - seems to have worked so far

Thank you Sharon.. I took it on an empty stomach this morning.. I have a terrible appetite so didn't eat till lunch time
All good so far though, I know some suffer the whole day so I know I am lucky in that respect.

    Thanks again everyone :D

    Hello Sharon,
I follow the same procedure as you.
If you add shaving, and brewing a cuppa for my bride and
delivering it with a slice of toast to her in bed the 30 minutes
    whips by.
I then brew a second time, this time a builder's brew in a mug
followed by a session with my kindle.
I do this every Sunday morning and apart from swallowing the aa
pill it is a kind of treat for both of us.
Tony. Do try moving around if you are able. I find it helps make
the 30 minute period seem to pass quickly.

Hope today's better, Tony. I must say walking about sounds like a better bet than sitting, if you can manage it first thing. Sitting compresses the stomach, especially if you're bending over a phone or laptop.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
