I had my 'flu jab this morning and am pleased to report that so far nothing nasty has happened; there's no soreness, no swelling and I'm not feeling 'off colour'. Long may it last! DD

Good news DD. Waiting to hear when we are going to get our free ones via school.

Still so far, so good. :) I will be surprising Mr DD tonight with a dinner which is not pasta and sauce as hinted: we will dine on oven-cooked pork chops, roasted onion, roasted parsnip, broccoli, carrots and sweetheart cabbage (don't tell him we've run out of potatoes and that I forgot to buy some  ).

The easy meal will come tomorrow as that is the first day that of works to install our new water main.

Ye gods. Kick-off at 8am. DD

I've just phoned to make our flu jab appointment as I'd had a text message asking me to do this. We're actually on holiday at the moment, but I thought I'd better put our names down before we return home. Unfortunately, the only clinic was for this Saturday - not possible for us - and no other clinics have been arranged yet! Ah, well.

Hope your water mains work goes well and smoothly, DD.

Good luck with the work to be done DD.

I had my flu jab last week but have to pay so I went to my local 'corner shop' which starts with a "T". (We live within a stone's throw of it). No after effects at all apart from a slightly sore muscle two days afterwards but that wore off very quickly.

Your meal sounds lovely. I note there's no dessert listed though. I managed to put together a lovely apple crumble yesterday which will last my OH and I three days all being well. It was custard last night to go with it, tonight it'll be a little ice cream (lovely when the crumble is slightly warm).

    You take care,

Ah Grace, we also lacked a starter. This was a mid-week dinner and as neither of us have a sweet tooth I prefer to feed him and me on our five-or-more-a-day and decent quality dead flesh - not having puds allows more money to be spent.

I did my meth today: in the good old days when I went to the hospital on a Wednesday to have it done it always coincided with the 'flu jab so I was able to miss a week but, as everything has gone OK, I did it this morning. I am hoping to persuade Mr DD to pay for a jab this winter, I am getting older and don't want to have to nurse him through another bout of 'flu (I've done so twice and it ain't fun). Come to think of it, I'll pay for it!

I am pleased you have had yours done, it's a sensible step methinks. DD

I'm pleased to hear you didn't have a sore arm. Last year, I was fine but this year, my arm was so tender and swollen for about 8 days despite all the pain dullers I take! A good excuse to rest and do very little though. ;)

Hope the weekend is being kind to you, DD.

My arm still aches from Saturday, I sat down and she must have been the Usain Bolt nurse because before I could say flu she had pulled up my jumper and jabbed me! As soon as I had walked in the I was called to go straight in, my OH hadn't even parked the car when I came out the surgery!!
