Cimzia and conceiving

Hi,
I am a 42 yr old male suffering from Psoriatric Arthrisis and Ankylosing Spodilytis and have just started my treatment with Cimzia.
My question is if anyone knows if it is safe to try for a baby from a man's perspective. I know that it is recommended to stop Cimzia if you are a woman but can't get a clear answer whether would have any effect on conceiving if you are male or if it would potentially cause any problems for the baby.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
I recall a similar post some time ago. I can't remember if it was cimzia or a different anti-tnf that the chap was on but I don't think it was ever resolved with a simple yes or no. I suspect you can't get a straight answer because there aren't any. These meds are relatively new and, although women are told to come off them for some time before conceiving, there is probably little or no research on the effects on the foetus of the father's sperm. I think you'd be taking a big risk.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
