Some of you may remember I had to see the doc as my haemoglobin levels were low. Today I finally got there

It was a new locum and talk about eye candy  (Mig would have had him in lycra in two minutes flat  ) It's a long time since a bloke asked me to undo my trousers and lie down and help me onto the couch but, Doc. B, you may palpate my stomach any time you like. (Next time I'll leave Mr SW in the waiting room  )

The good news is I convinced him that last time's triple of endoscopy, colonoscopy and barium enema were as unnecessary now as they had been then. The slightly less good news is that I can't have any iron until he has the results of a clutch of blood tests. (I've never in my life had so many letters after my name. Very impressive 8) ) The best news is I get to see him again next week when he has the results. Occasionally, arthritis is almost a pleasure :D

Well, well Sticky - if you have to make frequent trips to the GP it might as well be to a nice handsome one!

I have to admit, ours is tall, dark and handsome, though greying now, but at the podiatry clinic which I attend, they refer to him as "that GP with the velvet voice." The trouble is, when I speak to him on the telephone I always think of that and want to giggle!

I hope the blood results are good, and I`m glad you don`t have that nasty triple hanging over you.

Well if you have to see a GP it might as well be one that's a pleasure to the eye. I remember several years ago having an insect bite just above my knee which had become infected, I saw a very good looking GP then who had to draw a line around the area of infection in case it continued to spread!

Hope the blood tests are satisfactory when they come back.

Oh, my dear Sticky, I can feel another thread or two stirring, one possibly concerning geese and the other about Scandinavian tests of the sanguinous variety. Typos: ain't they fun?

Ipswich are winning and Norwich are losing: Mr DD is having a better day and has just 'fessed up to something which is, to me, hilarious but he doesn't see it the same way. He dropped off his company car for its MOT and was given a courtesy vehicle. The mechanic asked if he had everything he needed and Mr DD said yes and drove to work, where he promptly discovered he had left his laptop in the boot of his car, so he had to drive back to the garage, reclaim said item and then drive back to work.

I thought I specialised in this kind of nonsense but maybe not. Apparently middle-aged fairly-healthy males can be utter dorks. I feel strangely comforted. DD

    You're totally shameless, sticky

    I like it

There's a distinct lack of eye candy in these parts, so I suggest that I join the party to the next appointment. I'm sure no one will notice if we wedge ourselves into a corner and observe with a quiet respect :)

It's excellent news that you won't be having last time's triple treatment, which sounds as thought it might've been a bit much. In the meantime, triple tripe for iron deficiency, of course! (Frankly, I'm surprised the doc didn't mention that.)

    Best wishes,

   It's always easier to spot other people's, isn't it? I'd to re-read the entire thread three times before I found them  Ah the dangers of a touch keyboard! I don't think Scandinavian geese have as much mileage in them as tripe therapy though.

You are all wonderfully supportive people. However, I think I'm old enough not to need a chaperone for my next visit and pocket dwellers will be gratefully discouraged. (I found him first. You lot find your own  )

So glad to hear that your day has started well, stickywicket.
As someone who had a female GP for 20 years and whose replacement on retirement is another female, I envy you this mornings consultation :D

Hope your day continues to be a good one

Sticky, a high pulse-rate can be dangerous. Do be careful at your next appointment. I will be counseling your entourage on a meditation routine for you to keep your blood pressure low during the appointment. We might have to blindfold you.....

On second thought maybe a tripe sandwich beforehand would work.

I am deeply touched by everyone's concern for my welfare but, being of an independent nature, I feel I cannot put you all to such extreme exertions next Tuesday. I shall go it alone, BP willing  I shall even, heroically, donate my tripe sandwich to all my would-be pockets-dwellers and, just to be on the safe side, shall ensure I have no pockets.

Wow it seems a day for surprises and attractive men. Was expecting plumber for quote...bathroom saga continues. I opened the door to eye candy. I was most pleased and surprised. Had no gut and looked like had all his teeth. He had clicking knees! to which he announced "plumbers knees" !!!
Have another quote tomorrow, we will see which is the cheaper amongst several..............

Well, Doc Gorgeous has turned out to be Doc Super-Efficient. I can't have iron. My haemoglobin levels are still in a very gentle decline (Just like their owner  ) so it's the old endoscopy route again for me.

He was very apologetic, bless him. Said they'd also get something in place with the rheumatologist so that, assuming all is well, next time my iron levels drop there will be a smooth plan of action (or, hopefully, inaction). But, for now, we have to be sure and we will be. Oh bilhooks and airsoles!

I've got to give it to him, he's thorough.

Just had a phone call from him. I'll be hearing re the endoscopy in a few days. Meanwhile would I mind having yet another blood test as they hadn't done the vitamin one? Half of me went all Tony Hancock but the other half knows it makes sense and might work in my favour. I'd rather like to be told my Vit Z levels are low and that'll be the cause. Just eat a handful of wichety grubs daily. (Or would I  )

I'm glad your GP is being so thorough, Sticky - and of course it's such a bonus him being very easy on the eye.

It's a shame you have to have another endoscopy, but I hope you aren't kept waiting too long so that you can get it over and done with. Hopefully a plan will be put in place for future problems of this nature.

Did you not mention the tripe therapy to him?

    Hi sticky,

Gorgeous plus super-efficient? Lucky you

It is a shame about the endoscopy, but we can hope that the next bloods might generate that prescription for wichety grubs. They're particularly tasty with tripe, would you believe :)

I think it's always good to know your GP is being thorough and it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eye as well, just as long as you don't start inventing reasons to see him.

Unfortunately, Slosh, I don't have to right now  Next bloods on Thursday but not with him, just a mere female

I'm afraid I've clearly not been eating enough tripe. I'm better at writing it
