...where even the bed covers touching you hurt? It's 2.30am and I'm lying in bed in agony due to a flare up. It's times like these that make me question whether OA is truly what I have or whether it's an inflammatory arthritis. I hurt everywhere...practically every joint in my body is screaming with pain, my pain killers are downstairs and I hurt too much to consider struggling down to get them. My shoulders, wrists, hands, knees, hips, ankles, spine...all agony, horrible throbbing and 'tooth ache' like. The duvet feels like it's making it worse but it's too cold to kick it off. I'm just sounding off really to the only ones who really understand.

Hey sound away as much as you want or need to. Sorry to hear that you have had a rough night, I empathise as I have been in various pain then ache cycle all night too, though sounds no where near yours. Been at work and it's getting more intense right now, so I'm there...I got told I have OA then inflammatory but who knows the specialist may change his mind on that!! it's all so confusing confusing!! All that pain and stiffness really??!!!
Hope u can get to the painkillers soon and get some relief. Your frustration and pain is awful, maybe you could get another medical opinion? Forgive me I don't know if you already have, but might give you answers?

I hope you did get some sleep in the end, ouch. When things are bad I always keep some dullers and a glass of water at the side of the bed.

If it's the touch of the bedding, rather than the weight of it (Does that make sense?) that hurts it sounds to me more like a potential nerve problem or fibro than any kind of arthritis but the only way to be sure is to see your GP. I think that might be a good idea anyway if things are getting worse.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Sounds normal to me, I get this when the fibro is having a snap. I have strips of dullers all over the house and in every handbag, so they are always to hand. DD

Funnily enough I was originally diagnosed with fibro, but it was a locum dr and the regular one then dismissed the dx. The OA itself is quite widespread, and last night every site of pain decided to make itself known. The latest joint to join the club is my ankle - wow, that hurts so much I can barely walk when I get out of bed, and walking downstairs is an impossibility. But I also have it in my hips, knees, spine, elbows, shoulders, hands...
I did manage to crawl downstairs at around 4.30am to refill my hot water bottle and take some cocodamol, and then I think I managed to fall asleep around 5.15ish. I couldn't have a lie in as my daughter was coming to visit with my grandson and he is guaranteed to bring happiness and joy, no matter how bad I am feeling. But I am wrecked today. I can't wait for bedtime.
Hope everyone has a better night that mine.

It is tough, no doubt about that. Today has been a rough one for me but I know that things will improve, maybe around March next year. Maybe it's time to get a travel kettle for upstairs (assuming you have an upstairs bathroom) and a spare hottie so you don't have far to go to top it up in the night. Make sure you have dullers easily to hand and do your best not to focus on the pain - that only makes it worse. DD

This is the moment for me when I read a really good novel and escape into somebody else's life. It doesn't make an ounce of difference to the pain but it changes my focus which is a good start. Hope tonight is better (((((())))))
