Finally!

It felt like everything was moving at a snail's pace; my RA is slowly rearing it's ugly head, rheum team were deciding if a change of medication was necessary, ankle specialist was assessing for neuropathy and I was trying to get used to my orthotics.
The good old NHS has come through for me and finally, I have answers and a plan. I'm staying on my current triple blasting combo until my review in March. I am content with this as I have no desire to try every drug on the market and reach the same conclusion at the end. I also have a diagnosis of compression neuropathy aka tarsal tunnel which explains a lot. Everyone is very happy with me because after 5 years, I have caved and now wear my orthotics and my gait pattern has improved. I am hoping that my exercise regime and the orthotics will continue to help the RA and tarsal tunnel to prevent me from going down the surgical route.
All in all, I am moving forward in my wobbly arthritic way.

Plans are always good and it sounds as though you have a team supporting you that you can trust which is so important, and it's great when the NHS works and does it's job, it is something to be grateful for.
I have no experience of orthotics but if they are doing the job that's great and well done for using them and for feeling the benefit, it can be hard to accept these things. I'm just wondering if you saw the Royal Variety Show yesterday, Michael McIntyre did a routine about his recently acquired orthotics, took them out of his shows to show them and the difference they had made to his gait.
Good luck with avoiding surgery. He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

Hi Sophie,
I'm pleased that everything seems to be coming together for you
It was quite a long time ago, but I think I remember you were having trouble with nausea and vomiting – I hope this has all cleared up, so to speak
It's good news about your gait pattern and I wish you well with the wobbly way
Best wishes,
PheePsA (psoriatic arthritis) and other things since 1990. Happy to help when I can :-)0 -
At last things are sounding better for you and it's always good to have a plan. I am pleased that the orthotics have improved your gait, that will ease the strain on your joints which is always a Good Thing. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Slosh Yes, I did see it! Michael was far more humorous than I could ever be though.
Phee Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with a stomach condition where the muscles are partially paralysed, so I am still dealing with those symptoms but it is much better managed than it was. Thank you for remembering.
DD I agree that less strain overall is a very good thing. My hips already are appreciating the improved gait. I know I still "weeble" a bit but every little improvement is a positive in my eyes.0 -
Lovely to see you moving forward Sophie..you are such a strong young lady and RA will not hold you back...good for you wearing the orthoctics this will really help those joints, they do feel strange at the beginning but you will get use to them..xxLove

I do apologise, Sophie. I must've missed a post. I tend to come and go a bit – spells on Anxiety Island plus the demands of my career.
I'm sorry about your stomach condition and I hope it continues to be relatively well managed.

A plan sounds like a good way to move forward and wobbling in orthotics sounds like the plan is working in action. Well done for keeping going and keeping trying. You're ability to cling on and head forward is amazing and inspirational my dear (((((())))))Hey little fighter, things will get brighter0
