Now - I hear you say - that's not overly surprising given my physical condition but when I started going to the hospital gym in April, my average walking pace on the treadmill was very slow. I am now officially a slow walker. :D

Well done you. You must be pleased that all your hard work is starting to pay off.
He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

Hey, well done you :D That's progress indeed by our humble standards, Sophie. Don't get carried away now. Slow is good :D

With patience and work comes the reward - well done Sophie! It is hard to see one's progress when right in the middle of it all but that shows you're doing more than OK. Just don't do this. DD

The tortoise always beats the hare!! I walk slow and my OH walks mega-fast and I always say 'you can't enjoy taking everything in if you walk like an F1 car!' :)

Thank you for your kind words. :) I knew you'd appreciate and understand my happiness. It's a big achievement for me as I never thought I'd be confident enough to exercise in a gym. I shall keep on trudging forward, although perhaps not as much as I did yesterday because I woke up feeling like I'd been hit my a bus. Ooops!

Every journey begins with a single step Sophie and it doesn't matter how fast you take that step so long as you take it willingly and maybe with a little less gusto than yesterday.

Hi Starburst, I have been thinking all morning how I can improve my walking because these last few months my walking has gone so hard for me to do, I seem to be leaning forward as I walk and my feet sort of slur along , my back is very sore too, just thinking of looking if there is some sort of back support I can buy.....Well done to you though .

As one gently ageing knackered old dodger to a possible other is there
any other way to do it? What counts is that you are getting there.

Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare.

Slowly is better than not being able to move at all. Slowly also may mean that you're not further damaging your joints, and that's important.

Listen to your body. It'll soon tell you if you are over doing things.

    Good luck
