Actress Geraldine McEwan has died at the age of 82. Known for may tv and film roles she also starred as Miss Marple.

    She was a very worthy successor to Joan Hickson as Miss Marple but I remember her better for being the Bishop's wife in the BBC adaptation of the Barchester Chronicles - acidic, sharp and waspish in tone, none of which was demonstrated in Miss Marple. DD
