Hi everyone,
Just wanted some advice. I had a left big toe joint fusion in Oct 2014 and I'm still experiencing quite a lot of pain in the fusion site when walking. A recent XRay showed it hadnt fully fused, but my surgeon said it was probably just slow (I'm having another XRay in April) It's been 4 months now and I expected it to feel almost completely better by now. It still feels like my toe is broken! (obviously I have plates holding it in place) It would be great to hear other people's experiences....especially if anyone has had similar but it got better in the end!!! Thanks!
Trisha

    Hi Trisha,

My wife had this 2 years back. It may take occasionally more than 3 months for joint to fuse, whereas pain and swelling would take as long as 12 months to fully recover. Just beware of too much walking, it can cause setback!!

    Chris.

Thanks Chris-that's really reassuring! Had been unsure wether to 'walk through the pain' or rest.....hard to get the balance right! Did your wife's foot feel better eventually?

    Hello TrishW
I had my big toe straightened I have a plate that was 12 years a go.
I did not have a fusion I haven't had any pain.
I had a triple fusion on the same foot I had the 2 ops done together.
good luck I hope the pain goes soon.
