Hi
I haven`t forgotten you all, I have just been a bit distracted with `stuff`.
I am so tired after work that I don`t do much but sleep. My pain is much the same. I had the epidural in theatre for my back, which helped a little I think. I am to go back to see him in 6 months. I am going to see my hip surgeon soon as I am having groin pain, as though something is catching on the cup of my THR. The specialist nurse thought it might be that the cup is too proud? She says I will probably need investigations eg a scan. I have tried to wait to see if it settles, but it has been more than 6 months now.
My Dad is still having chemo. He had a ct scan and `camera`to see how the first course did, and it has stopped further growth, but not shrunk it. He needs more of the same chemo, but there is none available. So they are trying another type, that is not as effective. It is a worry. I am feeling very anxious and not sleeping well due to anxiety and pain.
I am seeing my GP tomorrow to talk.
I hope everyone is doing as well as can be x
NB

Hello, I don`t think we`ve "met," as I only joined the forum a few months ago.

I just wanted to say I`m so sorry your dad is so poorly - it`s not surprising that you are feeling anxious and not sleeping well. Then your own pain must be so difficult to cope with.I haven`t had a hip replacement, so can`t offer any advice in that respect, but hope something can be done soon to improve things for you. I have RA.

Good luck tomorrow with your GP.

    Hi
Thanks Theresak, I have bilateral hip replacements due to OA/hip dysplasia. My Dad is staying positive, but it is still a worry.

Barbara, I spoke to a different lady arthroplasty practitioner today, i didn`t catch her name, I think the other one had a baby. I don`t mind who i speak to as long as they try to help! I have tried all the physio they have suggested, but some of the exercises actually make it worse. I will see what they suggest next. Thanks x Hope you are doing ok.

Of course you've been 'distracted'. Who wouldn't be?

I do hope your GP appointment is a fruitful one and that your Dad's chemo will continue to help. ((()))

    Hi Sticky,
thanks, not sure how the GP appointment will go, as it is a new /locum GP. Mine is on leave.
I packed my bed with pillows last night to try to stop myself from moving in the night. It worked until about 3am when I woke up in pain, and couldn`t get back to sleep. Zombie mode for me today

I often find a fresh pair of eyes is very useful. They just come with different ideas. My last locum was also very easy on my own eyes :D – well, they do say distraction is good pain relief

    Hi Sticky
The locum was a very nice lady (darn!!) but was thorough as you said too. She is ordering some bloods to check hormone levels, and other stuff. She has added Amitriptyline back into the mix again to try to help the insomnia. She thought I was doing the right thing by asking my surgeon to have a look at my hip again. I have found a lot of research articles online, which talk about psoas muscle and tendonitis which display the pain symtoms I have. They also discuss ways it has been treated, firstly injections (steroid) , some had tendon release, others needed the cup revising in the THR. I hope I just need injections!!
I have to go back to see my GP for the blood results when she is back form leave.
My back is complaining a lot today, very `crunchy` too. I will fill the hotwater bottle up again I think.
    Take care

Well, I guess she's doing her best. I hope the amitryp helps – and the surgeon too.

Hi NB, I'm on Amitriptyline as my sleep is all over the place. It does work with me and I've had to have it increased recently as I've been on it a long time. I hope that this new treatment will help your Dad, he sounds a great chap staying positive, what do they say seeing the glass half full rather than half empty!
