Mrs Merton actress and comedienne Caroline Aherne has died at the age of 52.

    My favourite memories of her date back to The Fast Show ('My Roy, he sees everything, visually,' was always a cracker of a line) and then of course there is the very memorable Royle Family (which she co-wrote with Craig Cash and starred in as Denise).

    To contract cancer once is bad enough but three times? RIP Caroline Ahern, go and make 'em laugh wherever you are. DD

    Very sad indeed, I loved her character Mrs Merton. Some great lines. Watched quite a lot of the Royal Family too. A talented lady, rest in peace Caroline. X

    I never watched the Royle Family, but I loved Mrs Merton. Such a quick wit. RIP. :cry:

    Brilliant actress. Yet again this blasted disease robs the world of a unique talent.
