I used to get pins and needles sporadically in my right hand/wrist when I slept. Now I get it every night and randomly throughout the day and in both hands. Does anything help the pins and needles go away? I'm seeing the GP on Monday so I will add this to the ever increasing lists of complaints.

Your GP is the best person to advise. This isn't specifically an arthritis problem. I've never had it. It might be carpal tunnel or something to do with nerves higher up. Do let's know how you get on.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
