Hi Everyone,

Tomorrow is the day for me to go and see my consultant with regards to hip replacement. I am keeping everything crossed that he says he will put me on the waiting list. These last few days have been particularly difficult and struggling with the pain, which has now set my knee off again so looks like the steroid injection i had in May has warn off. Just sat writing a list of questions just in case he agrees to operate. Last time i was too young and over weight. Only 6 months older but 1 and half stone lighter. So Keep everything crossed.

xx

    Hope it goes well
He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

    Hi

Thank you to everyone for your support on Tuesday. All went well so now on the waiting list for an urgent hip replacement. Just waiting for hear about a date and pre op assessment. Now to start looking into what I need to be doing before operation and after any advice gratefully received.

    Hi purplejoanne
I am so glad that your appointment went well. We have a factsheet about hip surgery that you might find useful especially page 4 that talks about what to do before and after surgery

Exercises  The stronger you can get those muscles now the easier your post-op recovery will be.

Sleeping on your back for 6 weeks is always the hardest bit after a THR but it's a small price to pay in the long run. Good luck and do ask away if you have questions. There are quite a few of us 'hippies' on here.
