I am not my illness, I have an illness. I am Sophie and when I set out to achieve something, I will do it. I'm just over 2 years qualified and went for a promotion (progression within my current role) and I got it. It's been almost 7 years since my diagnosis and I thought my life was ruined because I couldn't do my old job any more but it wasn't. It was the start of something new and something better.

Sophie, congratulations on your promotion! Also what an inspiring and thought provoking post.
Reminds me of when I had my first TKR in 2009. It was the Sunday (I went home the following day) and the patients due for surgery on the Monday were admitted. Two ladies walked up to me and one introduced herself - "Hello, I'm a hip, what are you?" My reply? "Welcome to the ward, you'll be very well looked after. My name is Grace and I've had a knee replacement operation".
I hope you find your new post to be as satisfying as your current role has been.

That's some achievement, Sophie. I shouldn't be surprised because you've achieved so much since your diagnosis but this, in your current circumstances, is surely quite exceptional. Well done, you!If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Well done Sophie, not just on the new job, but on so many fronts. You face your struggles with such a positive attitude, you don't let the rubbish define you, and you show others just how much can be achieved despite!!!!!!

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. You've been an amazing source of support over the last 7 years. I couldn't have done it without the support of you, lovely people. While I can't say that I would have chosen this life, I believe that everything happens for a reason, even if it isn't always apparent at the time. I've also learned to be grateful for what I do have and to stop focusing on what I don't have. It's been an important life lesson and I'm glad to be where I am in life.0

Well done Sophie on your continued success, you really are showing your body who's the boss! Not Arther but Sophie! I had to chuckle because when Grace said about going for her TKR and one of the women said ' Hello I'm a Hip' it reminded me of the film Fight Club and the seen they are in the house and reading books and Edward Norton say 'I'm 'so and so's spline' So funny love that film!!
You keep fighting Sophie!0
