I'm sure you've all experienced this, you stroll into your bathroom to find a many-legged, hairy-chested-medallion-wearing arachnid crawling around, weakly groping and feebly sliding down as it tries to escape the slippery confines of the bath. I discovered mine on Friday morning, just before we left for a long weekend elsewhere, so I ran the cold tap to leave IT some water, because Mr DD was tapping his watch, bless.

We returned yesterday and no spider. How? Why?

DD

I don't know how or why they disappear, DD. If we don't have time to take the spider out of the bath, using a piece of card and a glass, then we put a towel over the edge so he/she has something to climb up in order to get out.

However, there's always the risk with this method that you might find yourself drying your face on a spider!

It drowned in the water and was eaten by the frog
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

You left the tap dripping, the water rose and the spider floated high enough to escape, the plug leaked and drained all the water away.

Meanwhile the spider ran into the bedroom............

You horrors. This is a spidery house, they are what I call harvest spiders, a little dot for a body and very long, thin legs. They all cleared off when the interior was painted but they are literally creeping back . . . . yuk. I don't do spiders, end of. DD

Sorry - speaking for myself, I couldn't resist. Now we'll never find out where Sid the Spider would have gone to in shock with what he saw DD getting up to in the picture!
