At the age of 53 the singer who shot to fame with WHAM has died at his home.

Never been a year like this for famous people dying.

No no no Ron!! Far too young :(

What an awful year it's been, but he has to be one of the youngest.

    RIP George Michael.

I can't believe that was his last Christmas :(

    My age...can't quite believe it!

Also I have a soft spot for him as Wham were no.1 in the charts when both of my Daughters were born, Wake me up and I'm your man.

I was brought up listening to Wham! Couldn't believe it when I saw it on the BBC news website at 3am this morning. What an appalling year for celebrity losses. I understand he had a heart condition and this was probably cardiac related. I feel so sorry for his partner who found him.

George - thank you for the music. R.I.P.

Unlike Bowie, Cohen. Lake (and some musical others) this death really hit: I associate George and his music with one of the best times of my life, he coincided with my early 30s when I thought I had (and had found it) all. I was right and wrong all at the same time, not unusual that, is it?

We were watching ITV news earlier and they reported the fact that some years ago he had crashed his huge car into a Snappy Snaps near his home; some wag had written WHAM in the dent to the front of the shop and we roared with laughter. I think he would understand that response.
