Hi
We have booked our Silver wedding anniversary holiday for June!!! :D But I now need to arrange holiday insurance for me, so has anyone got any good ideas for companies to use for cover for existing medical conditions. I have found one and it is over £100 just for me for 2 weeks.
I would prefer to pay less, well who wouldn`t!!?

I hate doing the annual trawl for travel insurance but it has to be done because, just like the utilities, you won't necessarily get it cheapest from the same company twice. I've given up on the 'pre-existing conditions specialists' as, in my view, they charge more for exactly the same.

One thing – you talk about 'for you'. But, if you don't take out joint insurance then if, for example, you have a problem which necessitates you staying on in your holiday place, you'll be insured for it but Mr NB will have to either go home or foot his own bills.

Ours is always for USA for a month. This year we're with Get Going. It's costing us about £245 for the two of us but (a)that's for USA which is always more expensive than Europe (Though that could change with Brexit) as there's no reciprocal agreement, and for two over-70s. Age hikes it up and Mr SW isn't quite the athletic sportsman he likes to think he is. Previously, for two years, we went with Insurance Choice.

I wish you luck. I'm glad ours is done
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I've used Direct Travel Insurance several times. I've found them to be very reasonable, and my partner has several medical conditions. They are very helpful on the phone too, and don't keep you in telephonic limbo for hours, as some companies do. Most importantly, they get good reviews for how they deal with claims. Low cost is no good if the way they deal with claims in rubbish.

We always use Saga, they do both single trip and annual travel policies, and I've had both. I have a number of medical issues and they include them all, and my husband has had a heart attack over 18 years ago, they happily cover everything for us without imposing extra excesses etc. They may be worth a look.

    Hi
Thanks everyone, I have not fully sorted the insurance yet as the tour operator is being a bit difficult about some of the things I asked for, for my health issues eg walk in shower, pool with steps and rail not a ladder etc.. they do have them in the 3 hotels I have looked at for the stay bit of the hotels will not confirm we will definitely have one until we get there. So I am waiting to hear more tomorrow. Seems ridiculous to me, but I am not prepared to take the risk of being given a bath or a shower over a bath which I cannot use.
    I will keep you posted!

    Hi
I have decided to cancel the holiday with this company as I feel they are not being reasonable, and I am not prepared to wait and see whether I am granted my requests once we arrive.
I am upset that I have had to do this, but I have been to see an independent travel agent and explained my issues and she will `tailor make` the holiday plan and ring each hotel individually to ask if these requests are possible at the point of booking.
