Does anyone have experience of having a reverse total shoulder replacement? Successful outcome or recuperation time. I would be happy to hear your views.

I only heard about this operation a few weeks ago when someone I know was due to go in for one. Actually, she's not yet had it as she got a bad chest infection just as she was due.

I don't think shoulders are replaced anything like as often as knees and hips. I do know that 'frogmorton''s daughter has just had a – I think – ordinary shoulder replacement which went very successfully.

Here is some info from Arthritis Research UK and, if you scroll down, it does deal with reverse shoulder replacements. It also has lots of other info on the menu on the left. http://tinyurl.com/yanfz94g

The only other thing I can add is that I'd want to ask the surgeon how many of these he'd done. My friend did and was told, airily “Oh about 7-8.” She found another surgeon who had done 200-300.
