Well..a year ago today..i sat in a small office while a Dr confirmed i had RA..all the while..panicing...because he mentioned injections!!

I dont know how i got through that 1st week..especially at work..i was in a tearful bubble and all i could think about was the worst case scenario..

Since then ive learned..
RA isnt JUST swollen Joints
It cant be cured, but it can be managed
Google is most definately NOT my friend
I cant know what will work for me by comparing myself with others
Its ok to admit when things are a struggle
And most importantly..ACCEPTANCE!

I know im one of the lucky ones so far...my RA isnt as bad as others...YET...i know theres a long road ahead...but on the bad days..ill just think of the lyrics from one of my idols..Adam Ant...

"I know that I can't stop the pain
But oh the pain cannot stop me"

IVE GOT THIS!!!

Brilliant post Shells, well done on getting to this stage. I think this summing up of what a lot of newly diagnosed face, and the far more positive later outcome, will be very helpful for those in similar situations.

You have learned a lot of very useful stuff in just one year. Well done!
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
