Where do you get your shoes from?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone wear wide fit shoes? If so, where do you get them from?

I'm in desperate need of new boots for the winter and can't find any suitable ones anywhere! Last year, my podiatrist recommended a great company who make handmade specialist footwear, and they had a beautiful pair of boots, but I couldn't afford them. Having saved up all year, I now have a bit of money for some new boots but can't find any nice ones!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi there,

    The shoe hunt is a nightmare isn't it. I've discovered a company online called 'Simplyfeet' that make shoes in a range of width fittings and deeper so that I can accommodate both my orthotics and an ankle brace, they're leather, smart and well made, but quite expensive. I was lucky in getting 2 pairs in their sale that are comfortable.

    Happy shoe hunting, maybe if you find a good supplier you can share the name with us.

    Thanks for your reply Deb. It really is such a nightmare! Thanks for the succession; I've just had a look at the website, but their choice of boots is quite limited, which seems to be the problem everywhere!

    I always have problems finding boots!! I would love some knee high boots but can only wear ankle boots. I usually go to Brantano's as they have a good selection of boots from different companies.

    Clarks, Hotter and Moshulu but only in the sales. Sainsbriz and Tesco do good stuff every now and again, T's did an excellent copy of Sk*etch*rs memory foam Mary-Jane style this summer which have served me well. I have a lovely pair of navy leather brogues from Sainsbriz (bought during their recent 25% off promotion) which nicely reduced the original price of £45. I am saving them for the proper autumn. DD

    Thank you everyone! I need ones that are wider but also deeper, so it's just a nightmare! I was diagnosed with tailor's bunions, but my consultant muttered something about spurs and pustules (isn't arthritis fun?!) and flares really deform my feet so any kind of normal shoe can be agony after half an hour or so.

    I have looked at Widerfit Shoes, but they've got nothing suitable that would fit/be comfortable.

    Keep coming with the suggestions and advice though, please - I think I'll really have to shop around. :(

    Padders also do a dual fit shoe with removable insole to create a deeper shoe.

    Hotter shoes. most of these are expensive so are better bought in a sale LOL

    Thanks Hileena, I'll have a look at Cosyfeet. I've looked at Hotter in the past, as they've got a shop in town now, but I'm not a big fan of their styles. I know beggars can't be choosers, but I have a great passion for boots (I have many pairs and even though I can't wear them now, I just can't part with them!) so I'm really fussy.

    I use Hotters a lot but have never had their boots
    I just get catalogues posted out to me and then I check anything in it that I might like against the site on line. They look so different in the catalogue compared to online. Something that looks nice in the catalogue doesn't look as nice on line :?
    I wish we had a shop close by. We have one in a town not far away but no way can I get parked there.
    At least if you send for the other catalogue you can browse through it
    when you are having a cuppa :lol: then throw it out if you don't like it :wink:

    My feet and ankles are very painful and I need wide, deep shoes with a memory foam insole.
    I can't wear hardly anything..even Clarks hurt and anything completely flat or with a heel over 1" is agony.
    I find sketchers trainers (relaxed fit) the most comfortable things to wear, but really wanted some boots for winter.
    Well last week I popped into my local Sketchers shop to find they had some new boots in.
    I bought a pair which have the same insole (memory foam), sole and heel (like a trainer heel) as my trainers, but in a black leather boot.
    They are also relaxed fit, which means extra wide and deep.
    They're really comfortable like comfy trainers but in a boot!
    They also look like they'll go with anything and are classically 'trendy' ish.
    I'm really pleased with them.

    Trisha - I've only just seen this! Thank you! I don't think I have a local Sketchers shop, so I'll look online and see what I can find. Thanks for the tip!

    I have had some success, I think! I've got some boots from Evans. They're nice and wide, and pretty deep. The calf is too big (I am overweight so do have big calves, but they're too big even for me!), but they're adjustable so I'll have a play and see if I can get them just right.

    The best thing is that they have real soles with grips! Bring on winter!

    I got mine online, they are a lot cheaper than the sketchers shop
    I did try them in the shop first, checked the price then went online [Am@@on] and got them there. :D

    That's good, Hileena, thank you. Hopefully I'll end up with a choice of footwear this winter for once!

    My new Evans boots have passed their first test - I had to walk to the train station in the rain, and I have warm and dry - and relatively pain free - feet! And I didn't slip!

    Now, to Sketchers!
