Hi there,
I've recently had a blood test (about 10 days ago) to determine my rheumatoid factor. I was wondering how long it takes to get the test results back? I had some other blood tests done at the same time and those results are back.
Thanks,
Peter

Hello, it's nice to meet you but I'm sorry you have had to find us. My suspicion is that if the other results are back (with your GP?) then the RA factor one is too. It is worth chasing this up because, even if the RA factor result is negative, that does not rule out an auto-immune arthritis. I have psoriatic arthritis which is one of the sero-negative kinds. Please let us know what you find out. DD

results vary depending on which you had done.
at my hospital normal blood counts results like esr and crp are done within an hour if urgent or within 1-2 days if non urgent.
a specialist test like HLAB27 can take between 1-2 weeks as these are treated totally different and take time to mature.
they normally say 3-5 days for the results to get sent to the GP
every hospital and surgery is different though.

    Hi all,
Thanks for the replies. Just noticed this morning that my results are back, the rheumatology ones took about a week longer than the others. My test results show an Rf factor of 15 IU/ml which means I guess that I don't have RA. Still struggling with lots of pain in joints, tendons and muscles so not sure what it is. Have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 10 years ago but these symptoms are new and much worse that anything before. Am seeing GP later in week so will discuss next step.
    Thanks,
    Peter

It doesn't necessarily mean you don't have an autoimmume arthritis, Peter. Check here and scroll down to the section on 'rheumatoid factor' test.https://www.arthritiscare.org.uk/do-i-have-arthritis/diagnosis
