Road charging

News via the BBC says that it is proposed that road charging should take the place of taxes and be according to personal rates.
I was wondering how that might affect those with mobility allowances? Would those with a bigger income have to pay more? Or those that do less miles have to pay more per rata? Or would we be on reduced rates?
No doubt it will turn into a true British farce, in the best possible way!

What a ridiculous notion, how on earth would it be applied? I suppose one possibility would be with ANPR cameras linked to one's bank account as they are for the QE2 bridge at the Dartford Crossing.
Another interesting snippet in the press over the weekend was the possible awarding of BBs to 'those without mobility issues': as that already happens the true proposition is to extend the list of 'qualifying' conditions to include autism and dementia. The whole system needs rethinking, clarification and a more cohesive administration. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
