Hi
I have been offered a new job. I have been in my current role for 14 years and have had 2 access to work assessments in this time to acquire aids and equipment.
I am currently completing the Occ Health questionnaire and it of course asks about joint problems, medications, and about moving and handling. I have been very honest with my replies and know that they will no doubt sent me for a medical as a result of my answers. I am a bit worried that they will be concerned about physical abilities. Any advice?
NB

    Hi NB

Thank you for posting on the forum, and I can hear your concerns regarding your physical abilities if you are sent for a medical.

I feel your honesty up until now is probably a good thing. Under the Equality Act 2010 employers are required to make reasonable adjustments for disabled employees.

You might like to look at our ‘Working with arthritis’ booklet, which will give you some information about your rights at work as well as other related topics: https://www.arthritiscare.org.uk/living-with-arthritis/working-with-arthritis

You might also like to re post on our ‘Benefits and working matters’ forum, here people share their experiences and it’s also a great place for getting support. https://arthritiscareforum.org.uk/viewforum.php?f=9

Lastly, if at any point you would like to talk to us about your arthritis you are very welcome to call our freephone helpline: 0808 800 4050 (weekdays 9.30-5)

    Best wishes
