Hi folks,

I have my big toe fusion booked for Tuesday, finally. Do you have any tips or advice for me, both for the surgery and recovery afterwards.

Thank you.

No.1 -Follow the advice about staying off your feet. Feet up to stop swelling. Patience!

No 2- Buy a size bigger shoe to allow for the 15degrees of rise that is put into the toe to allow you to roll forward as you walk. They need to be supportive and well cushioned.

No 3- I would ask for some shoe inserts (removable soles needed) to support the rest of the toes which end up taking more weight, mine are all worn out now.

No 4- Remember that it will take time for you to get back to normality, 6 months off work can be normal and for me led to retirement.

Hi there. Did you feel the screw as you started walking from heel to toe?

I think it was the sock I felt the way it was bunched up. But did it felt a bit sore to begin with when pushing from the toe?
