I've just read an interesting article in today's Times newspaper about a diagnostic tool being developed at the University of Birmingham.
It uses infrared to detect inflammation in hand joints.
They hope it could be widely available in GP surgeries within ten years.
It looks like something which will speed up the early detection and treatment of RA which will mean less joint damage for lots of people.

Oooh I like the link. This could be so helpful in knowing when to get a current RA patient an earlier appt. for a flare. It could also give some indication as to what type of arthritis though I do hope it won't just be the usual OA or RA thing. If the device will indicate an inflammatory arthritis of any kind (including the sero-negative ones) that'll be fantastic.
