Hi Sylvia11,
It’s great to meet you, welcome to the forum. I see you had nerve ablation, was this on your knee? How does your spine feel? I hope your knee is behaving well in terms of weight bearing and movement. I’m still getting more movement month on month, and was told I would keep improving for 2.5 years.
I think the appointment with the neurologist will be most helpful in resolving the pain you have. There are also pain clinics which I’ve had experience of, I felt reassured and I had a much better understanding of how my body worked and after a meds tweak or two I was able to get into a much better position pain wise.
If you want to talk about what’s happening to you do ring our helpline, it’s open 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday though I expect they are closed due to the Bank Holiday this Monday.
Keep posting, let us know how we can help
Take care

Hi, the nerve abolition was on my knee,
But the specialist /surgeon is saying all this nerve pain around my
Knee into foot is due to my back so I have not as yet had any pain relief from my tkr I also had a manipulation 6 weeks after the opp
I still can’t straighten my knee.
He thinks I may need injections or micro surgery,I can’t carry on with all this nerve pain, so I’ll have to wait till the end of October
Thank you for your kind reply.

Hi Sylvia. I'm so sorry to hear you have so much pain. I've had both knees and hips replaced, all very successfully, but I've not had nerve pain or much trouble with my back. It seems you are seeing the right medics for it all and it's just - JUST - a matter of pain relief until / unless they can get it all sorted.
I know we've had the occasional post on here from people needing manipulation after a TKR but i think theirs were just simple cases of knee pain with nothing to do with backs.
I do hope you can get some relief quickly. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
It’s good to know some operations are successful .
My knee feels like someone has kicked me like a ball of fire sparking, burning and stabbing pain.
I’ve tried different variations of my medications to no avail
Different creams ? Any ideas ?
I saw last week the surgeon who performed the nerve abalation he looked at my scans mri and says all this is coming from my back .. as I have the discs, cysts and arthritis in my spine
So I have to wait till October.
So it’s trying to keep positive, thank you for your support.

If it's all stemming from various back problems I think it would be dangerous for me to suggest anything.
I just did my post-op knee exercises religiously and, eventually, all was well. But, with a back involved too, you need a proper doc or physio to tell you which exercises would be beneficial and which wouldn't.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi ,
I do see a physio every two weeks she gives me stretches for back and knee.
At the end of September I’m seeing another physio with my usual one this one works with the surgeon, she has asked this other physio to come to see me to see if there is anything they suggest.
I did all my knee exercises unfortunately scar tissue built up very quickly hence the manipulation under anaesthetic,
But after that my leg felt so much better my bend is great
Just wont go straight still
That’s my problem when I do the most gentle stretches it pulls my back.. so I can’t win.
So just need to keep going till October..

It 's not easy, is it? So much of arthritis consists of playing the waiting game - often the painful waiting game. On here we do understand so, while we can't do anything to help, do feel you're among understanding friends and please join in anywhere. Living With Arthritis is the most popular forum. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi ,
Yes having arthritis is a waiting game to see doctors ,surgeons
Etc .
And thank you all for support.
I think I may get a mobility scooter so I can get around better .
