Hello

Hi I'm new to this group. I started with arthritis and spondilitis when i was about 16 and running for a bus. I got horrendous pain in my back and just fell to the ground. I was told by a doctor when i was about 24 that I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 60. I am now 58. I wake up in the mornings with such bad pains in my arms that I can't even pull my duvet off me or over me. When i move my neck it crackles and sometimes I hear a noise like two bones grinding together. Funnily enough, I don't struggle with knee pain so much although I haven't been able to kneel down since I was about 20. I do have pain in my right hip and both ankles and the tops of my feet. I get a severe pain if i try to dance or exercise, which goes from my groin right down the front of my leg and I almost lose my balance because of it. My last visit to the doctor about 2 years ago was pointless. I sked if it would be possible to have a scan or x rays to see how progressed it was and he just made light of it and suggested I buy a hot tub and some prosecco!!! I take naproxen when the pain is too bad but can only last 3 days without taking them. I get sciatica quite often and suffer with restless legs at night. I don't want to see another doctor for fear of being ridiculed again. I own my own business but it can be very difficult at times as it's all standing work. (Restaurant Chef) Just wondered how everyone else copes and if I should be more persistent with another doctor?

The hot tub sounds good! Prosecco? Nah, I’m sure we could find something better!

Sounds like your exercise regime is not working for you. I am very bad at doing exercise for its own sake, I only do things I enjoy.

Heat is a wonderful thing for OA, the hot tub will help. A Scan driven diagnosis will not get you peace of mind, that’s something you will need to deal with, acceptance of the position you find yourself in may help? I’ve spent a lifetime waiting and when it did come I knew as much as I did before.

    its a grin, honest!
